Upcoming events at St. Paul

As we work to recover our primary website, here is a calendar of upcoming events:

Come to the Table
Tuesday mornings present a great way to get to know us. Pastor Bob and/or DM Beth and a representative from our Church Council will be at Atlanta Bread Co. at 10am every Tuesday to meet informally with parishioners or new attenders who want to get to know them better, ask questions, discuss Lutheran doctrine, or just have a cup of coffee. Please drop in and join them for fellowship and information.

Better Choices, Better Health Workshop
FOCUS invites you to attend a program for those living with chronic disease, as well as their family members/care givers. “Better Choices/Better Health” is a series of six workshops January 4 through February 8, from 2-4:30 pm in the SOS room. The workshops will cover such topics as getting needed support, dealing with pain and fatigue, eating and exercise choices, understanding how to live with various emotions, and learning better ways to talk to your doctor and family about your health. There is no charge and those who complete the programs will receive a $25 gift certificate! Call Judy Clements at 642-5117 for information.

FOCUS - Tuesday, February 14th Trip to Newberry Opera House
We will leave the church around 1:00 p.m. to see the 3:00 p.m. performance of “Brigadoon.” Brigadoon is a musical by Alan Jay Lerner with music by Frederick Loewe. Songs from the musical, such as "Almost Like Being in Love" have become standards.

Forty tickets are being held (first come first serve). A bus and driver for this outing has been reserved. The transportation cost will be split between the FOCUS treasury and the individuals going to Newberry. Total cost per person for the performance and transportation will be $35. We have reservations at the Flying Pie in Newberry for dinner after the performance.

Please sign up at the signup station at the church to reserve your spot for the outing. We need to collect all of the money by January 15th in order to purchase the tickets - make checks payable to St. Paul LC and specify “FOCUS Newberry Outing” in the memo section on your check. Checks may be turned into Jo Phibbs, Larry White, or other members of the FOCUS board.

Learn the State Dance of South Carolina!
The St. Paul Youth, Church Life Committee, and FOCUS will be sponsoring a Shag Night on January 21st for all who would like to attend. The youth will prepare and serve a spaghetti dinner. This will be followed by shag and line dance lessons and a chance to show off what was learned in the evening. The fun begins at 6:00pm.

ACTS NEEDS FOR JANUARY
January Food Collection for St Paul: Ask Judy Clements or see the Grocery Cart (ACTS has a list of churches that bring a particular staple each month - it helps
them keep the basics on hand.)
